A rest area on Interstate 94 near Lynchburg, North Dakota, will close temporarily for repairs starting Thursday, August 28. The Lynchburg Rest Area, located about 20 miles west of Fargo at mile marker 327, serves travelers heading eastbound.

The planned work includes replacing the old bathroom vault and making improvements to drainage in the parking lot. Crews will also install a new sidewalk. The closure is expected to last approximately one month.

At the same time, the Oriska Rest Area at mile marker 304 is undergoing reconstruction and is scheduled to remain closed until Fall 2026. Both rest areas are consecutive stops for eastbound traffic on I-94. With both facilities unavailable, drivers are advised to use city stops along their route for breaks and services.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation has issued a reminder: "The North Dakota Department of Transportation would like to remind motorists to slow down and use caution throughout work zones."
