Funding is now available for ethanol facilities in North Dakota through the Low Carbon Fuels Program. The program, announced by Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring, aims to support projects that improve facility efficiency and reduce the carbon intensity of ethanol production. The initiative follows authorization from the 69th Legislative Assembly.
“The North Dakota Department of Agriculture is seeking grant proposals from ethanol production facilities in the state,” Goehring said. “Eligible capital projects are construction of new infrastructure or replacement of existing infrastructure for carbon dioxide capture and storage, beneficial use of carbon dioxide, energy efficiency enhancements, or ethanol yield improvements.”
The grants are capped at $3 million per biennium. Applicants must contribute half of the total project cost as a match to the grant funds. Details about how to apply can be found on the NDDA website at https://www.ndda.nd.gov/low-carbon-fuels-program.
