Senator John Hoeven has announced efforts to secure agriculture disaster assistance as part of the Continuing Resolution being drafted by the Senate Appropriations Committee. Hoeven, serving as the Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, is working with colleagues to address losses faced by producers due to natural disasters and challenging market conditions.
"As farmers have faced growing and serious losses this year, we have put forward a package of $12 billion of relief for economic losses and $16 billion in weather-related assistance that we’re working to secure in the end-year Continuing Resolution," said Hoeven. He noted that Republican leadership has backed this proposal and emphasized its importance for aiding farmers and ranchers nationwide. "We have made a straightforward proposal to Democratic leadership to come to the aid of farmers and ranchers across the country."
Hoeven highlighted that while efforts have been made to keep the proposal free from potentially partisan additions, Democratic support remains absent. He urged stakeholders in agriculture, including farmers and ranchers, to communicate with their representatives about the necessity of including both economic and weather-related assistance in the Continuing Resolution.
